MEMBERSHIP

The Order actively seeks new members who are:

  • Affiliated with any Christian denomination,
  • Known in the community to be of good character and standing,
  • Accomplished in their professional and/or civic lives,
  • Committed to the ideals of the Order.

Membership is selective and is by invitation only. The application process is initiated at the Priory level by active members who know the applicant sufficiently well to recommend him or her, without hesitation, as satisfying the foregoing criteria. The applicant’s interest is communicated by the sponsors to the Membership Committee, which then seeks to acquaint itself better with the applicant and his or her background. If its opinion is favorable, the Committee recommends the applicant to the Prior, who issues a formal invitation to the applicant. Once the application is returned with the attendant fee, and approved, it is forwarded to the Grand Prior of the United States for final consideration and approval. Each Knight and Dame may be a member of only one Priory in the United States. Should a member’s relocation necessitate his or her selection of a new Priory, there is an approved process for accomplishing a transfer to, or affiliation with, another Priory.
